The Group operates a Sponge Iron & Steel manufacturing facility through Narbheram Power And Steel Private Limited. The Company was earlier named Scaw Industries Private Limited and it was taken over by Atha Group in July 2007. Subsequently, the Company was renamed to Narbheram Power and Steel Private Limited in 2009.

The plant is located on 200 acres of land and is directly connected to State Highway. It is ideally located in view of availability of raw materials & infrastructure. The Group’s own 2.2 MTPA iron ore mines under its partnership firm M/s Narbheram Vishram is located about 150 Km away from the plant site.
The Company has already obtained Environment Clearance for its proposed expansion capacities. NPSPL has one of the best management teams to execute its proposed expansion plans as envisaged by the Group.
This expansion is targeted to increase the sponge iron capacity from 1,00,000 tonnes per annum to 2,50,000 tonnes. SMS capacity will be increased from 44,000 tonnes per annum to 1,44,000 tonnes per annum. The biggest value addition will happen through expansion of power generation capacity from 8 MW to 48 MW.
The basic raw materials requirements of the Company are iron ore and coal. The Company has been allotted Coal Mines jointly with M/s Tata Sponge Ltd and M/s SPS Sponge Iron Ltd at Radhikapur (East) block in the state of Orissa, which is only 60 Km away from the plant site. The estimated reserve of the Coal Block is 115 million tons, out of which NPSPL’s share of 36% i.e. 41.40 million tonnes; this will be more than sufficient to meet Company’s vision to be a major power and steel player. The Environment Clearance of the same has already been obtained subject to EC for the power plant and end use project.
The Atha Group is focused on making NPSPL a power and steel giant and will be the flagship platform for the ATHA Group’s strengthening position into the energy sector. The Atha Group’s vision to become a formidable player in the energy sector will be taken ahead by NPSPL.
